South Sudanese lack of genealogy brought division along tribal lines and caused atrocities in the country.

Torit Emeritus Catholic Bishop Paride Taban said the Dinka, the Nuer and the Murle are neighbours and cousins, but political power struggle destroyed their closeness, Easter Radio reported.

Bishop Taban appealed to the conflicting leaders not to destroy innocent children of South Sudan because of power greed.

He clarified that tribe was a gift from God but God does not want tribalism.

The Bishop stressed that South Sudan belongs to all and all should love and respect one another.

Yei Catholic Vicar General Zachariah Angutuwa Sebit blamed the leaders of holding useless academic documents including masters and doctorate without using the knowledge they gained.

He said well-educated people threw the country to war just after two years of independence.

The two made their remarks on Sunday after Eucharistic celebration of Holy Family feast.
