The Vice President of the Republic said the government accepted the demands of Inter-Governmental Authority on Development or IGAD and the international community.

James Wani Igga told the press in Juba on Saturday that the government positively responded to the four demands including cessation of hostility, release of detainees, dialogue and humanitarian intervention, Bakhita Radio reported.

Vice President Wani Igga added that the government quickly accepted to cooperate with the IGAD members while waiting for a respond from Riek Machar.

The Vice President said the government was very disappointed to hear that Dr Machar still continues to put some preconditions to the talks.

He said Riek’s preconditions were a blockage to peace in the country.

Vice President Wani Igga urged the international community to hold Dr Machar accountable for atrocities committed in the country.

Information minister Michael Makuei Lueth said Dr Machar’s rebels continue to attack government troops in Malakal and Pariang.

He accused Dr Machar of mobilizing 25 thousand youth groups from Lou and Gawer Counties to attack Bor.

The Vice President visited the Military Hospital and donated three bulls, five bags of maize flour, two bags of rice, two jarricans of cooking oil, three sacks of onions and bundles of salts to the wounded soldiers.
