Aid agencies require 166 million US Dollars from now until March 2014 to address the immediate needs of violence affected people in South Sudan.

The money would be used to provide clean water and sanitation, healthcare, shelter, and food including emergency programmes for 200 thousand Sudanese refugees in South Sudan.

In statement, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan Toby Lanzer said it was extremely a difficult time for the people of South Sudan.

He added that it was crucial that aid agencies have resources to save lives in the coming months.

Mr Lanzer said the agencies were already responding to crisis and would further scale up their work in key locations with specialised staff and emergency supplies.

He added that their priorities were to stay, protect, and deliver services.
