Between 18 and 19  thousand internally displaced persons or IDPs from Bor in Jonglei State are taking refuge in Awerial County of Lakes State.

Lakes Assembly Deputy Speaker Nhial Enock Cahoc told Good News Radio on Saturday that there was high influx of IDPs from Bor crossing into Awerial.

He said the IDPs were in dire need of food, shelter and sanitation and the county authorities have nothing to give them.

The Deputy Speaker appealed to International humanitarian aid agencies to provide assistance to the IDPs.

Deputy Speaker Cahoc said the county authorities managed to settle the IDPs in schools but the number was too big to help.

He added that goods in the markets were finished and there was urgent need for assistance.

The Deputy Speaker feared that influx of more IDPs from Bor into Lakes State would continue.
