The President of the Republic appealed to citizens and diplomats in the country to remain calm after a failed coup attempt was suppressed.
Salva Kiir Mayardit told the press on Wednesday evening that he was very sure of improving security situation in the country.
He cleared speculations that the violence in the country was tribal, citing numerous Dinka tribesmen as the majority among the coup plotters.
President Kiir added that soldiers who took the law into their hands to kill innocent civilians on tribal basis would be brought to justice.
He confirmed reports that General Peter Gadet and his SPLA division defected to join Dr Riek Machar Teny.
The President confirmed that the former SPLM Secretary-General Pagan Amum Okiech was arrested.
