CES gender based violence working group meets in Juba

Central Equatoria State Gender Based Violence Working Group met on Thursday in Juba to discus and share lessons together with challenges and best practices.
 
ISRAID South Sudan Country Director Ophelie Namiech said the group members will visit 113 women and 13 children victims of gender based violence in Juba Prison on Friday, Bakhita Radio reported. 
 
She said social workers, lawyers, journalists and other officials will give support and counselling to the inmates.
 
Ms Namiech added that they are bringing some aid including hygiene articles and clothing.
 
Central Equatoria State Police Advisor Andre Gpobbelaar said the police received forms to be filled in by victims of gender based violence who require medical treatment.
 
He added that Form 8 is free.
 
Ms Namiech said ISRAID is developing some educational programmes with school children.
 
She announced that on December 9 Juba Na Bari School will organize an event on gender based violence.
 
The meeting studied the challenges Juba Teaching Hospital faced handling cases of violence against women.
