Rumbek Catholic Diocese is ongoing without a bishop amidst challenges since the death of Bishop Caesar Mazzolari.

This was the statement of the outgoing Vicar General Andrea Osman Okello to the faithful of the Diocese on Sunday at the Holy Family Cathedral, Good News Radio reported.

He said Rumbek priests held their first diocesan Assembly, retreat and celebration of Year of Faith two years after the death of Bishop Mazzolari.

Fr Osman told Christians to develop a positive attitude to life despite of many challenges.

He said the diocese faces challenges of the absence of the Bishop and temporary absence of the Administrator Fr Fernando Colombo who went for treatment.

Fr Osman said many people were asking him of why Rumbek has no bishop two years after the death of Mazzolari.

The former Vicar General who is taking a one-year sabbatical leave urged Christians to pray for Rome to appoint a new Bishop of Rumbek.

Fr Osman was speaking during the Eucharistic celebration of the feast of Christ the King and the end of the Year of Faith.
