Vice President reveals performance contracts plan

The Vice President of the Republic disclosed that ministers would sign one year performance contracts based on projects mandate on behalf of their ministries.
 
James Wani Igga who visited Labour and Public Service Ministry on Wednesday said undersecretaries would sign contracts with ministers; Director Generals with undersecretaries and staff with supervisors all the way down to junior officers.
 
He said contracts would be evaluated annually to assess achievements and failures of government officials.
 
The Vice President said ‘the contracts aimed to improve service delivery and ensure that ministers and civil servants were accountable to the public.’
 
Vice President Wani Igga said ministers who scored well in their contracts would be rewarded
 
He told the public servants that South Sudan must move away from laziness.
 
The Vice President lamented that it was not fair for the country to import food including brooms yet the country has lots of manpower in various sectors.
