Education director advises teaching local languages in schools

Tonj South County Education Director in Warrap State advised school administrators to continue teaching locals languages.
 
Lual Mayom said the teaching of local languages was put in the Education Bill, Don Bosco Radio reported.
 
He explained that schools within Bongo areas will teach Bongo language and those in Dinka areas will teach Dinka language.
 
Mr Mayom said teaching local languages in schools was an ancient practice but some schools ignored and concentrated only on English and Arabic.
 
The Education Director said local languages would be taught from class one to four.
 
Mr Mayom encouraged parents to take their children especially girls to school next year.
