The Government of Japan approved a grant assistance of over 357 thousand US Dollars to three NGOs for implementing community-based social welfare projects in Central, Eastern Equatoria and Western Bahr El Ghazal States.
Japan Ambassador to South Sudan Takeshi Akamatsu on Tuesday signed the grant contracts with representatives of Community Action Water Program, MANGA Children at Risk and Women Training and Promotion Association.
Community Action Water Program will construct seven boreholes in Moli Boma of Eastern Equatoria and latrines at Moli Primary School and provide sanitation education to local communities in the area.
MANGA Children at Risk will construct a new maternal ward fitted with medical equipment and provide capacity building to the health workers to improve obstetric care in Terekeka County of Central Equatoria State.
Women Training and Promotion Association will construct Khor-Ghana Jedid Center to provide income generation skills to women and adult literacy and pre-education.
The project is expected to empower a number of poor and vulnerable women in Khor-Ghana Jedid community in Western Bahr El Ghazal state.
