Central Equatoria Health ministry on Wednesday launched a four-day house to house polio vaccination campaign covering the six counties of the state.

Expanded Program for Immunization Director at Juba Teaching Hospital George Auzenio Legge said the campaign started on Tuesday and will end on Friday.

He said the campaign in Juba County targets over 108 thousand children and 313 thousand children in the state from zero to five years old.

Rejaf Payam Director Emmanuel Taban called on parents to ensure that every child below the five years is vaccinated.

He dismissed ideas that children would be intoxicated.

Mr Taban clarified that the government cannot kill its own people and cannot waste money to buy harmful vaccines.

World Health Organization or WHO Focal person Eva Gordon called on citizens to report polio cases to authorities for earlier treatment.

She said WHO was ready to support the government of South Sudan to fight the polio virus in the country.
