Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese is facing shortage of HIV AIDS drugs in Health facilities.
Diocesan Acting Health manager Justin Gizaza said their Health Department is short of medicines to supply Ibba County Health Centre, Star Support Group in Yambio, Rainbow Group in Nzara and Tombura Hospitals, Anisa Radio reported.
Fr Gizaza said they conducted several meetings with heads of health facilities and other partners to control the situation and risks that may occur.
Star Support Group Nurse in Yambio Margret Nako Dukpurokari said more than one thousand HIV AIDS patients come every week to receive antiretroviral drugs.
She lamented that they only have septrine that cannot treat Star Support Group’s patients.
People living with HIV AIDS representative Sebit Zazandevuru urged the government, church and well-wishers to pat special attention to patients.
He lamented that lack of antiretroviral drugs was a great challenge that requires both the church and the government to quickly intervene to save lives.
