Civil society learn governance, human rights

Civil society organizations from ten states of South Sudan are undergoing a week long training on governance and human rights in Yei Municipality.
 
The training aimed to establish a common understanding on governance and human rights, Easter Radio reported.
 
Norwegian People’s Aid or NPA Good Governance Program Coordinator Boboya James Edmond said the training also aimed at empower civil society organizations to enable them advocate on issues of governance, women rights, youths, media rights and access to justice in the country.
 
He added that the training will also clarify how society organizations cooperate with the government.
 
Mr James dismissed ideas that civil society organizations were political parties.
 
NPA in collaboration with Institute for Promotion of Civil Society organized the training.
 
The training which started on Monday is expected to conclude on November 24.
