Western Bahr El Ghazal ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on Monday started a three-day Agricultural Show in Wau.
The Show under the theme: ‘The cooperative is the key to food security and rural development’, brought together farmers from the three counties and Wau town, Voice of Hope reported.
The organizing committee Press Secretary Sebit Ibrahim Fadul said the exhibition was opened to all farmers to showcase their products of this year.
He added that the Show was an opportunity for farmers to compete, share experiences and promote food security.
Mr Ibrahim explained that the exhibition would also showcase livestock resources and other activities of the ministry.
State Minister Adel Athanasio Surur revealed that the best farmers with quality crops will represent the state at the national level.
He added that the Agricultural Show is an annual event meant to celebrate International Harvest Day.
The minister called on all citizens in Wau to visit the Show.
The state ministry on September declared that floods resulting from heavy rains destroyed ten percent of farms.
Last year Western Bahr El Ghazal won the fifth position in the national competition in Juba.
The Show supported by agricultural partners, commercial banks and UNMISS in Wau began on Monday and will end on Wednesday.
