The President of the Republic said 60 million pounds of the 18.2 billion 2013-2014 budget are for education, his number one priority.

Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday told a press conference in Juba that schools would receive 50 Pounds per pupil effective from January 2014 to run their activities.

He stressed that the grant would minimize charges of school fees.

President Kiir said the grants would only be given out if oil production continued to increase.

The president named health as the second priority.

He announced operating grants to finance county health department projects, medical supplies and hospital infrastructures.

President Kiir said 20 million Pounds would be allocated for county water departments.
