The administration of St Vincent Catholic Primary School in Heiban County of Nuba Mountains decided to close its premises on Friday morning due to increasing theft.

El-Obeid Diocese Education Coordinator Sister Cathy Solano told Voice of Peace that some education assets including a drum of diesel, dictionaries, calculators and exercise books were stolen from the school.

She added that a solar panel was also stolen from the priests’ compound last month.

Sr Cathy explained that a television belonging to teachers was broken as thieves attempted to take it few weeks ago in the same compound.

She said a committee made of local chiefs was formed to investigate the thefts.

Sr Cathy said the members of the committee promised to return within a week to report their findings, but did not turn up.

The Education Coordinator strongly warned that the school will close for good if solutions were not found.

She added that her administration did not tolerate theft.
