The Commissioner of Jur River County put in place control measures to combat illegal cattle sales in the area to raise revenue collection.
John Arop Anei held a meeting with all cattle vendors at the Jur River bank giving directives to custom officials and security organs to confiscate animals getting out of the county without legal documents, Voice of Hope reported.
He said agentes should be deployed at all slaughter houses in Wau in collaboration with the municipal authorities to bar animals without legal document from slaughter.
The Commissioner also accused custom authorities in Jur River County for evading the use of government’s Revenue Collection Form 15 that ensures proper accountability.
Mr Arop advised tax officials to record all money collected.
Jur River County supplies most cattle to Wau municipal slaughter houses.
Meat price in Wau Market dropped from 20 to 16 pounds per kilogram between August and November.
