Sixty SPLA generals visited the United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS on Monday following the Fourth SPLA Command Council Conference 2013.
UNMISS Deputy-Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in the country Raisedon Zenenga, Humanitarian Coordinator Toby Lanzer and the UNMISS Force Commander Major General Delali Sakyi briefed the generals on key elements of the Mission’s mandate.
The peacekeepers’ leadership welcomed current dialogue and engagement with the army.
They reiterated their commitment to assist the national army in achieving their current transformation.
The Mission also revealed its continuous support for the extension of the State authority across South Sudan in full respect with national sovereignty and ownership of the Government and the people of South Sudan.
