Nespresso to invest in South Sudan’s coffee industry

Nespresso Company expressed interest to work with TechnoServe and the national Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to invest on high quality coffee production in the country to boost economic development.
 
Nespresso Corporate Public Relations Manager Diane Duperret in a statement on Monday expressed confidence to revive coffee production, support farmers in improving quality, sustainability and productivity of the coffee.
 
The manager said their coffee experts visited South Sudan and found out two types of coffee: Arabica and Robusta in three regions in the country with the highest quality and new unique smell.
 
She said Nespresso planned to be the first company to offer coffee in South Sudan to benefit smallholder farmers and establish a coffee replanting program, agronomy, train and support local coffee growers. 
 
Ms Duperret said they will also work to identify local entrepreneurs for coffee marketing services and perform leaf and soil surveys to rehabilitate soils for coffee production in the Yei region.
