The National Legislative Assembly on Tuesday adopted resolutions from a select committee on Kapoeta East County calling on the national government to settle border conflicts with neighbouring Kenya and Uganda.

MP Grace Alex Abala of Ikwoto County appealed to the House to push government to resolve border conflicts with the southern neighbours especially Kenya.

She denounced the murder of citizens in border areas in defence of their land yet army and police are only directed to secure the northern border.

Mp Abala argued that southern neighbours proved to be aggressors since they claim land with modern military weapons.

MP Beatrice Aber Samson of Magwi County revealed similar encroachment in her county by Uganda.

She expressed concerns for the local people.

The MP accused former Foreign and National Security ministers of giving Nadapal to Kenya for unknown reasons.

Deputy Speaker Mark Nyipoc said the national government should demarcate all international and state borders especially what he termed ‘hot spots.’

MP Salva Mathok Gengdit of Warrap State called on the national government to carry out development projects including roads and schools along international borders.

He warned that paying deaf ears to border conflicts with East Africa was dangerous to the future generation.

The National Assembly also passed Voluntary and Non-Government Humanitarian Organization Bill 2013 to the third reading with observations.
