The National Legislature on Monday referred the observations of the President of the Republic on the media acts to the joint committee of information, legislation and justice for scrutiny.
The National Legislature comprising National Legislative Assembly and the Council of States made the referral after presentation of the observations by Cabinet Affairs Minister Martin Elia Lomurö.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit asked legislators define the term in good faith together with some technical changes.
The President also recommended the establishment of a Information Commission.
President Kiir also observed that it was not consistent that the appointment of members of the Board of Directors was subject to parliamentary approval.
Speaker Manasseh Magok Rundial referred the presidential observations to the joint committee of information, legislation and justice for careful study before tabling them for deliberations within a week.
