The Mayor of Torit Municipal Council took over the former Torit County office on Saturday.
Eastern Equatoria Information minister Clement Chichim Loku handed over the facility to Stephen Osfaldo Loboli on behalf of Governor Louis Lobong Lojore, Emmanuel Radio reported.
Torit County Commissioner German Charles Ojok declared the Mayor responsible to handle security and other matters in town.
He pledged to cooperate with Mayor Osfaldo in administrative issues.
Law Enforcement minister Ambrose Charles Lokonoi said the handover of the facility marked the administration power transfer of Torit town.
He said Torit County Commissioner would take care of payams outside the town.
Torit town residents received Mayor Osfaldo with excitement at the office.
