Western Bahr El Ghazal women called for an end to inheritance.

The call came during Wau Diocese Justice and Peace Commission training on women’s right, Voice of Hope reported.

In an opened debate on Wednesday, women said after the death of the husband the late’s family do not give the widow rights to decide who to inherit her.

One of the participants Anthonetha Ajok argued that the problems affecting women are not inheritance only but taking care of the orphans.

She testified that many women suffered because men who inherit them are not responsible and do not care for the children of their late brother.

Patricia Philip who facilitated the workshop said communities have to maintain some good cultural practices and change the ones that affect them.

The participants recommended that women need to go beyond kitchen and home duties.

Wau Diocese Justice and Peace Commission on Thursday concluded the three-day training under the theme ‘To get peace you must work for justice.’
