Nimule was chosen to host Eastern Equatoria State World Aids Day to be celebrated on December 1.
State Aids Commission Director Augustine Okwahi told Emmanuel Radio after a preparatory meeting on Wednesday that the selection of Nimule as the venue for the celebration was agreed by the organizing committee members in the meeting.
He added that Nimule’s choice came after considering the high HIV prevalent rate in the town and its multi-cultural setup.
Dr Okwahi said the State ministry of Health and other partners working in the HIV Aids sector combined to create awareness on the deadly pandemic in different areas of Eastern Equatoria.
The State Aids Commission Director called on every citizen to take responsibility to achieve the zero infection objective.
He said Aids prevalence stayed at 3.4 percent in Eastern Equatoria and Kapoeta and Magwi were the most affected areas.
