The National Ministry of Health announced that 300 cases of obstetric fistula were treated since 2006, including 33 cases this week.
Undersecretary Anthony Lupia said on Monday there was need to educate women and invest in human resources to address health issues, Bakhita Radio reported.
Dr Lupia said patients recover in two weeks or more after surgery.
AMREF country representative said insufficient reproductive health services were the cause of fistula in South Sudan.
He appealed for an intensive treatment campaign and prevention of obstetric fistula.
Obstetric fistula or vaginal fistula is a medical condition in which an abnormal opening develops between either the rectum and vagina or between the bladder and vagina after severe or failed delivery leading to chronic leakage of urine or faeces.
