WES celebrates UN Day

Western Equatoria and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS celebrated on Thursday UN International Day under the theme ‘One South Sudan-one UN.’
 
UN Police state Co-ordinator adviser Igor Depenise read the message of UNMISS chief Hilde F. Johnson during the celebrations in Yambio, Anisa Radio reported.
 
Ms Johnson said the UN was working tirelessly worldwide to make sure that humanity and dignity were protected in collaborative efforts with all the stakeholders  
 
‘We are committed to work together and supports the nation building and show how we can unite and promote peace, relevant security and development for South Sudan’, she added in her statement.
 
Western Equatoria Deputy Speaker Hanna Lona Bona thanked the UN and its agencies for supporting the state government to move in the right direction and deliver services to its citizens.
 
She urged the UN and other partners to work side by side with the government.
 
Acting State Governor Gipson Bullen Wande urged UN agencies to continue advocating for peace in the state and South Sudan in general.
 
He said Western Equatoria Government was committed to continue providing security to all UN personnel to carry their activities in the state.
 
The UN Day celebration comprises of speeches, entertainment and games.
