South Sudan objects Abyei Referendum

The national government opposed Ngok Dinka plans to hold a referendum on self-determination in the Abyei region.
 
The national Minister for Information Micheal Makuei Lueth on Wednesday said ‘we will not accept a unilateral decision being passed. And if the people of Abyei decided to join us, we will not be ready to accept them’, Bakhita Radio reported
 
He asked if the government of Sudan and South Sudan were not parties of the referendum where will Abyei go.
 
Mr Makuei said Abyei is part and partial of the World and there is no way for the Ngok Dinka to do election unilaterally.
 
He encouraged the people of Abyei to give pressure on the two governments instead of unilateral election.
