The Intergovernmental Authorities on Development or IGAD medical team ended its two-year service in Western Bahr El Ghazal.
Four medical experts from Uganda and Ethiopia completed their two-year mission in building the capacity of the local medics in Wau Teaching Hospital, Voice of Hope reported.
WBG state Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan thanked the IGAD doctors for the services offered to the state.
He said the state would attempt to address other challenges articulated in their report.
Governor Zachariah called on the IGAD team to produce a comprehensive report that will enable the state plan to tackle challenges in the health sector.
The team’s report on Wau Teaching Hospital indicated that the facility lacks appropriate management of waste, poor medical equipment management system, human resource management and job descriptions.
The report said most health related organizations operating in Western Bahr El Ghazal did not put efforts to assist Wau Teaching Hospital.
The IGAD team arrived in the state in November 2011 after a team from Kenya left.
