The Commissioner of Yei River County said the outcome of the ongoing joint regional security conference in the county will produce good fruits.
Juma David Augustine told delegates attending the conference that there are border security concerns between South Sudan and DR Congo, Easter Radio reported.
He noted that the theme of the conference ‘The cross border security’ relates to the county because Yei borders DR Congo.
Commissioner Juma assured delegates that Yei County provides hope for Ugandans and Congolese citizens among other foreign nationals.
He emphasized that the county leadership and its citizens desire that
life is made sustainable in the county for better development.
Yei Municipality Mayoress Oba Cecilia Tito assured delegates at the conference that the security situation in the area is under control.
Ms Oba noted that some people traded in rumours of false accusations and some elders and chiefs were arrested a few months ago accused of alleged support to M23 rebels.
She wondered why the influx of refugees from DR Congo is continuous saying the services rendered to refugees are based on humanitarian assistance.
Ms Oba said she hoped that the results of the conference would propel the nation ahead as it has just achieved its independence with lots of challenges to be rectified.
