A British official on Saturday opened ECS Model Girls Boarding School dormitories in Juba.

Baroness Christine Cox said education is a priority for any country to develop and girls’ education is a special priority because they face various challenges in all traditional societies, Bakhita Radio reported.

She added that there is real necessary to provide girls’ education and respect their security, and sensitivities to encourage them to continue with their education and resist family pressure on early marriage.

Education Consultant and Trainer Margaret Griffin said the Juba Model School did very well in secondary certificate exams.

The official added that the school has small opportunities for girls from other schools as the dormitories take less than 100 students.

She said many parents requested to send their girls to Juba Model Secondary School from other parts of the country.

Ms Griffin said the dormitories cost around one million South Sudanese Pounds with Rotary Club’s support.
