The African Ministerial Conference on Environment that concluded in Botswana called on Europe to transfer its technology to the continent to fight climate change.

National Environment minister Abdallah Deng said shortly after touchdown at Juba International Airport that African leaders met with the European Union to build up partnership against the climate change, Bakhita Radio reported.

He added that the African leaders expressed disappointment over lack of support from the European Union to tackle climate change in the continent.

Mr Deng clarified that to achieve the global goal target to lower the temperature African countries need to build up their capacity through science and technology transfer and financial support.

Mr Deng said the report called for African countries to limit their temperature below two centigrade degrees.

He explained that for African countries to bring the temperature down they needed European and American technical knowhow.

The minister said to limit the temperature Africa needed a 335 billion US dollars before 2020 to avoid flooding and global warming.

Mr Deng said African leaders are expected to attend another conference in Warsaw, Poland, and come with possible solutions to tackle climate change in Africa.

He added that the EU pledged to support Africa in the fight against climate change.
