Youth Union, Torit Municipality launch cleaning operation

Eastern Equatoria State Youth Union and Torit Municipal Council scheduled Saturday for a cleaning exercise in the business town centre.
 
Youth Union Chairperson Epone Emmanuel Lolimo said state ministry of Infrastructure offered equipment to help during the exercise, Emmanuel Radio reported.
 
He disclosed that trucks will collect marrum to fill potholes and water logged areas in the market.
 
Mr Lolimo said the youths were working together with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.
 
He condemned the poor hygiene behaviour of traders at Torit market, describing it as an ugly place for human habitation. 
 
The youth chairperson noted dishonesty in the use of the funds collected for cleaning the town. 
 
He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability.
 
Mr Lolimo rated that the improvement of cleanness was above 50 percent compared to previous years.
 
Eastern Equatoria state Youth Union continuously clean the town to improve sanitation. 
 
The Youth Union planned to clean the other major towns of including Kapoeta and Nimule.
 
Torit town Mayor Stephen Osfaldo Loboli and his Deputy Marko Lokitoe Lokuta approved the Union’s plan to take garbage collection contract.
