The Department of Agriculture in Yei River County is calling on the farming community to start preparing for the third season by planting vegetables for the dry season.
Assistant Commissioner for Agriculture Edmond Taban Gogo said the third seasonal cultivation is best done at the banks of water courses.
He encouraged farmers and students to plant okra, cabbages, carrots, tomatoes and other suitable crops by the rivers.
Mr Taban congratulated farmers for the produce of their first harvest.
He said the rural markets were well supplied with local food.
The Yei River Assistant Commissioner for Agriculture urged farmers to make fire lines around their gardens to avert fire outbreaks in their fields during the forthcoming dry season.
