A women development group was established in Western Bahr El-Ghazal State to transform the poverty stricken society through technical skills.
Rapha Elias Bandas, who heads the group, said rural women should be empowered in technical skills to enable them compete favourably with men, Voice of Hope reported.
She revealed that her organization empowered about 5,000 rural women in agriculture productivity through the use of ox ploughs.
Ms Elias said most women in her state were involved in technical work like their male counterparts to raise the economic status.
She pointed out that rural women improved agriculture productivity considerably.
Ms Elias lamented that the women lack means to market their produce.
She appreciated efforts by her development organization to uplift the morals of women through small scale businesses.
The director made the statement on Wednesday ahead of the International Day for Eradication of Poverty today.
