World Food Program or WFP on Thursday in Juba signed a memorandum of understanding with the national government on the legal framework that governs the execution of their duties in the country.
WFP Country Director Chris Nikoi said the document defines the roles, responsibilities and obligations of both parties, Bakhita Radio reported.
He described the memorandum as a very important milestone WFP achieved since the independence of South Sudan.
Mr Nikoi said WFP had prior basic agreements with South Sudan but it was important to work jointly to reach goals and objectives.
The Country Directors said WFP made its strategy according to the government’s goals for the next four years.
He added that the strategies include supporting the government on relief emergency and food value chains among others.
The Undersecretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Charles Manyan D’awol said WFP was delivering good services to the country before signing the memorandum of understanding.
