Japanese International Cooperation Agency or JICA started the construction of a 47.7 million US dollar water supply system in Juba.
Speaking in the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, JICA Representative Atsushi Hanatani said the Japanese Grant Aid was used for constructing the plant to improve water supply system.
He said the Ministry of Electricity, Dams, Water Resources and Irrigation will execute the project in collaboration with South Sudan Water Corporation and JICA.
Mr Hanatani added that the eight tanker filling stations are expected to produce 10,800 cubic metres of water every day.
JICA representative estimated that 389 thousand persons will have access to safe water after completing the project in April 2015.
