The University of Juba Staff Association announced the end of its strike following the ratification of allowances by the National Legislature.
Staff Association Executive Committee Chairperson Leonzio Onek said the committee saluted the reinstatement of university staff’s allowances effective from October this year in the new budget.
Dr Onek disclosed that the lecturers were hesitant to strike because they love to do their job.
He said classes resumed immediately on Wednesday afternoon.
Dr Onek warned that lecturers would go back to strike if the ratification of allowances would not be implemented in October.
He threatened that the next strike would be worse since lecturers would lose trust in the government.
Dr Onek told journalists that the staff association would continue negotiations on the payment of arrears accumulated since the implementation of austerity measures last year.
