The country’s new budget of 18.6 billion South Sudan Pounds needs to give priority to the important sectors of the country, including higher education.
Sudd Institute Director Abraham Awolich said the government must leave feeder roads to the states governments, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said the ruling government neglected higher education of the country since the birth of CPA in 2005.
The analyst added that the ruling party needed to have a clear vision on higher education and conceptualize it before the universities start working properly.
Mr Awolich said it was shameful that students need seven to eight years to complete a bachelor’s degree instead of the usual three years.
He remarked that to fulfil the country’s Vision 2040, the Government needs to prioritize higher education.
Mr Awolich said the matter is not just about building schools but rethinking the education system.
He added that for the Government everything is priority and citizens get confused.
