Yei Municipality controls tax collection within municipal jurisdiction

Yei municipality authorities in Central Equatoria State said yesterday they withdrew the collection of taxs in Yei municipal jurisdiction.
 
Mayoress Cecilia Oba Tito told the press that the office wants to assume her jurisdiction by collecting the taxes to render services to Yei Municipal, Easter Radio reported.
 
She revealed that previously Yei County and Yei Payam collected taxes but now only Yei Municipality was mandated to collect taxes.
 
Mayoress Oba clarified that the municipality was not collecting new taxes but there was a change of administration.
 
She warned people that only receipts with the stamp of Yei Town Clerk were legal.
 
Mayoress Oba issued orders on Saturday that any person who breaks the law will get six months in prison and a fine of 200 pounds.
 
The Mayoress remarked that there should not activity of issuing land to people and payment of money.
 
Mayoress Oba asked the law enforcement agencies to implement the order seriously.
