Citizens of Warrap state called for the combination of the Council of states and National Assembly into a single parliament in the next permanent constitution.
National Constitutional Review Commission Civic Education Campaign Team leader for Warrap state Rosa Santino Bol told the press on Friday that people of Warrap need more sensitization on federal and decentralized systems of governance.
Santino Bol added that Warrap citizens also insisted that death penalty continues as a law to deter criminals from conspiracies.
She said people asked for decentralization of political leadership in the country.
Central Equatoria Governor and MPs recommended for distribution of shared powers by national and state governments rather than devolution of powers.
Central Equatoria team leader Aldo Ajo Deng said leaders need clarification on important areas such as security, judiciary and finance.
He said Central Equatoria also appealed for a National Ministry of Local Government to link states with the central government.
Mr Ajo said they recommended clarifying in the constitution the army and other organized forces’ role of protecting the country.
