St Daniel Comboni who died in Sudan sacrificed himself to light Africa which was known as a Dark Continent.
This was one of the statements of the Wau Catholic Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak to thousand of Catholic believers on Thursday while presiding over the tenth anniversary of St Daniel Comboni, Voice of Hope reported.
He said St Comboni imitated Jesus Christ by dying to bring light and Good News to Africa.
Bishop Majak explained that the love of Comboni was very big for Africa to the extent that he offered his life to liberate South Sudan and Sudan from darkness and sins.
He added that there was no way of showing love to people of God rather than dying for them.
The Catholic prelate mentioned that each tribe in South Sudan lived far apart, but the coming of missionaries united all tribes under the faith of Jesus the Saviour.
Bishop Majak wondered if the missionaries did not come to South Sudan, what could have happened.
He explained that Comboni is an icon of hope and dignity for the people of Africa.
Comboni missionaries reached Wau in 1904 and are currently offering humanitarian and spiritual services.
