Central Equatoria State Teachers’ Professional Union leadership appealed to scholars to become teachers for the sake of the future of children and quality education.

The Union’s deputy chairperson Oliver Lodiong asked that who will teach children if scholars continue to quit the profession.

He cautioned the public against minimising teachers.

Mr Lodiong said the Union was pressurising the government to improve teachers’ conditions in the country.

He added that all teachers’ grievances were presented to relevant authorities for rectification.

The deputy chairperson expressed optimism that the future of teachers would soon be bright.

Mr Lodiong termed government’s looking down on teachers as marginalization because it failed to consider teachers’ position in the society.

The deputy chairperson prayed to God to change the minds of leaders to reconsider teachers as nation builders.

Mr Lodiong was speaking during the World Teachers’ Day celebration in Juba on Saturday.
