Agriculture ministries to invest on vegetable, fruit processing

National and state ministries of Agriculture and Forestry on Friday visited Yei River County for a feasibility study to raise vegetables and fruits processing industry in five states of South Sudan. 
 
Post Service and Home Economics Director in the national ministry of Agriculture Mary Benjamin Lwoki said they visited Yei to study areas of vegetables, fruits and cassava to have a report for investment and production, Easter Radio reported.
 
She said they discovered a lot of post harvest losses especially fruits like mangoes in Yei and other parts of the country rot due to lack of technology.
 
Yei County Commissioner Juma David Augustine called for modern farming system because the county used old way of farming for long time and produce little.
 
He said the team should strongly recommend the provision of modern farming tools like tractors to boost production.
 
The two speakers were talking shortly after a meeting in Yei.
