South Sudan, Uganda agree to beef up border security

South Sudan Police Service and Uganda Police Force in Juba agreed to beef up security along the border to boost economic activities.
 
Yei River County Commissioner Juma David Augustine told the press on Wednesday that the two nations agreed to form a join high way patrol team to maintain security along the border, Easter Radio reported.
 
He said the two countries also discussed land conflicts, unlawful settlements and illegal business transactions.
 
The Commissioner explained that the two sisterly countries resolved to establish a desk in the offices of Inspector Generals of Police to look into issues facing the people of each country.
 
He said the meeting discovered that some Ugandans were involved in criminal acts in South Sudan and that good working relations would resolve such crimes.
 
Commissioner Juma said the Ugandan government expressed readiness to take back some of its criminal minded people from South Sudan.
 
The Commissioner said the two Inspector Generals showed will to protect interests of both countries.
