Union of Journalists of South Sudan became a member of the Federation of African Journalists or FAJ.

In a statement issued after its meeting in Nigeria last week, FAJ Steering Committee confirmed the acceptance and endorsement of UJOSS membership in the Federation.

‘The membership applications from the Lesotho Union of Journalists (JUL) and the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS) were accepted and endorsed by FAJ
Steering Committee,’ the statement said.

The Committee reinstated the Ugandan Journalists Union and the Kenyan Union of Journalists into the FAJ and sent a mission to Somalia to unite the two union executives to realize journalists’ tranquillity.

The Committee expressed vigour to engage African leaders, the African Union and development partners to adopt Journalists’ Safety and Security Resolution.

FAJ President, Mohammed Garba called on the United Nations and African Union to officially accept September 28 as the ‘Right to Information Day’.
