The national ministry of Finance on Tuesday launched the investment certificate centre in Juba to regulate and boost investment opportunities in the country.

Undersecretary for Investment Elizabeth Majok told the press in Juba that the launch would enable authorities to access investment activities in the country, Bakhita Radio reported.

She said issuing certificate would benefit both local and international investors.

Ms Majok said the launch of the centre will also enable the authority to know the number of investors in the country.

She said the certificate require investors to state clearly their country of origin, types of investment, how much money they have and which part of the country they want to invest in.

Ms Majok said both national and foreign investors who want to invest in the country must have at least 100 thousand US dollars.

Finance Minister Agrey Tisa Sabuni said to qualify for the certificate, investors must prove the existence of the project with an amount of not less than 100 US dollars.

He said the door was opened for investment and all must register to benefit from some tax exemption.

The South Sudan investment authority issued 13 certificates to different investors in the country.

All investors are expected to register with effect from October 1.
