Lightening strike on Monday killed five pupils and one teacher at Alusi Primary School in Kajo-Keji County of Central Equatoria State.
Alusi Primary School Examination Secretary Modi Emmanuel told CRN in a telephone interview that the lightening struck at 3:00 PM following a light rain.
He identified the victims as pupils of primary seven: Pita Rejoice, Yugu Samuel, Guo Jane, Duku Isaac and Guo Robina and Joseph Kandyang their English teacher.
The Examination Secretary described the fallen pupils as clever and hard working, and that the dead teacher was famous and most liked in the community.
Mr Modi recommended that government should install anti-lightening conductors in schools to avoid future occurrence of such a disaster.
He revealed that Alusi Primary School in Kiri Boma lacks lightening arresters.
Locals in Kajo-Keji suspected that the incident occurred after some parents went to the school to pay their children’s fees.
