The committee tasked to inspect the health and sanitation of animal slaughtering centres in Yei River County said there was completely poor maintenance in the centres.

The committee team leader Justin Modi Samuel on Friday said they found that in all three centres butchers were slaughtering bulls on the ground and the meat mix with mud, Easter Radio reported.

He stressed that the team was committed to continue inspecting meat and fish before guarantying for public consumption.

Mr Modi recommended that meat sellers were innocent because government failed to maintain slaughter centres.

He observed that there was need for government officials to meet to find ways of improving the centres before imposing charges to meat sellers.

Modi warned that should meat, fish, eggs and chicken sellers continue without hygienic maintenance their contaminated commodities would be burnt one day.
