Border land dispute between Acholi of South Sudan in Magwi County and Acholi of Uganda in Lamong district left some Ugandans beaten, five cows killed and at least three huts burnt to ashes.
Pajok Payam Chief Secretary Joseph Obote told CRN in a telephone interview on Saturday that Acholi of Pajok ordered their Ugandan tribe mates to slaughter five cows and burn their huts.
He explained that the incident was sparked off when Ugandan cattle keepers invaded a garden in Pajok Payam.
Mr Obote said Ugandan authorities earlier removed a South Sudanese signpost inside the country’s territory.
He said the 1956 border line lies in Limuu stream, but Uganda extended about a half kilometre to Buger Boma Headquarters in Pajok Payam raising tensions among community members.
Mr Obote stressed that the Pajok community remains angry and worried about the continuous encroachment of Ugandan Acholi.
He said Eastern Equatoria Local Government Minister visited the border point on Saturday and called for calm.
Mr Obote said the minister reported that governments of South Sudan and Uganda would peacefully settle the border issue.
