Journalists and security personnel in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal state on Thursday came together for a two-day dialogue forum on mutual understanding.
The workshop under the theme: ‘working towards mutual understanding,’ aimed to find ways for security organs and journalists to iron out differences, Voice of Hope reported.
State Information Minister Derick Alfred Uyah called on the journalists and security organs to understand one another because both are working for a common welfare.
He called on all media houses to cooperate with national security in the country to ensure that people live in harmony.
Union of Journalists of South Sudan or UJOSS chairperson Oliver Modi Philip called on journalists to correctly educate the public to take sound decision and implement programs before them.
He said UJOSS and the Association of Media Development in South Sudan or AMDISS work to ensure safety of journalists.
Mr Modi called for collective work in order to eradicate differences between journalists and security organs.
He told journalist and security forces to be alert, vigilant and work for development in all areas of the country.
The workshop that started on Thursday brought together 20 journalists and 30 security personnel.
UJOSS in collaboration with AMDISS organized the workshop funded by Norwegian People Aid.
